Hospital Visiting Guidelines
Unity Hospital is committed to patient and family-centered care principles and will make every reasonable effort to facilitate the presence of supportive patient-directed care partners, while ensuring the health and well-being of patients, visitors and staff.

Family members or patient-directed care partners are encouraged to participate as members of the care team to create a familiar caregiving environment and enhance the healing experience. Hospital staff is responsible for the education of visitors regarding expectations for behavior while visiting patients and for monitoring compliance of these expectations.

Because quiet and rest are critical in creating healing environments, family members and care partners are asked to keep voices low and be considerate of all patients. Quietness is especially important before 11 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

Any family member, care partner or visitor who has experienced fever/chills, sore throat, cough, vomiting or diarrhea in the previous 48 hours is prohibited from visiting.

Children under the age of 14 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times., Children under 14 years of age are not permitted on our Intensive Care Unit unless special arrangements are made in advance with staff.

Rarely, Unity Hospital may need to limit family member/care partner presence (in response to public health and hospital safety and security concerns). The Hospital will keep patients and families informed and assure that these limitations are kept to a minimum.

Sending a Card to a Patient
You are welcome to send a card to a patient admitted to the Hospital.  The card will be hand-delivered by our Volunteer Staff.  Address your card like this:
Patient's Name
Unity Hospital
1555 Long Pond Rd.
Rochester, NY 14626

Key Contact Person
Patients will be asked to designate one person as our primary contact. We will only share patient information with other people when we are given the patient's permission to do so. If you are designated as a key contact person, you are encouraged to take notes when talking with members of our health care team. Writing things down helps when information needs to be communicated to others.

Park Place Gift Shop
Located on the first floor, the Park Place Gift Shop is open daily and features magazines, fresh cut flowers, snacks, cards and gift items. It is operated by the Park Ridge Auxiliary. Park Place Gift Shop can help you find a unique gift for that special patient. You can order online or by phone Monday through Friday until 4 p.m. and our volunteers will deliver to the patient's room free of charge.

Free parking is available for visitors in the designated parking lots at all entrances to the Hospital.
