Morris’ Story: Taking dialysis in stride
I had always been healthy and active, so I was surprised when my doctor told me that my kidneys were failing and that I would eventually need dialysis.
When I first went for dialysis, I was very uncomfortable and unhappy with the idea of spending so much time in one place. The nurses and doctors at Unity were extremely considerate and caring – they helped me adjust to my situation and not become discouraged.
I like the Unity Dialysis unit very much – the people there are so pleasant. I’ve become more relaxed and comfortable. Dialysis has become such a part of my regular routine that I almost look forward to going there!
And being on dialysis has not kept me from doing what I like to do – even though I’m almost 81, I still get out ballroom dancing a couple times a week! |
