Sleep studies at our Center

What to expect
If you’re asked to do a sleep study, you’ll come to our Center around 8 p.m. Once you’re ready for bed, a specially trained technician places sensors at strategic spots on your skin (which is painless—it’s just like having a small bandage).

These sensors connect to equipment that records your brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, heart activity, breathing effort, and blood oxygen saturation while you sleep. All of this data is very useful to diagnose your condition.

All of our rooms are as home-like as possible, with pictures, private bathrooms, cable TV, a variety of beds, and comfortable furniture. An intercom allows you to communicate with the technician in the next room.

We also offer home sleep studies, and if you’re a suitable candidate, we will discuss this option with you.

What to bring
When preparing for your study, please bring comfortable, two-piece pajamas—these should be loose-fitting, and not made of satin, nylon, or silk. Please also bring toiletries, clothing for the next day, and a book or magazine. Be sure to bring any medications that you take regularly, as well as a list of medications that you’ve taken within the last two weeks. We provide linens and towels, and showers are available after testing.

Getting your results
It takes approximately two weeks to get the results from your sleep study. Our specialists need time to properly analyze the data, and our findings and recommendations will be discussed at your follow up visit.
