Unity Medical Staff Announces Recipient of 2007 Physician Recognition Award

Unity Health System announced Tarun Kothari, M.D., chief of Gastroenterology & Endoscopy at Unity Hospital, is the recipient of the 2007 Physician Recognition Award. Given by Unity Hospital Medical Staff, the award honors a physician who demonstrates commitment to the goals and values of Unity Health System, active participation in the community and the Hospital through service, and excellence in patient care. Nominated by his colleagues at Unity, Dr. Kothari was chosen by a selection committee made up of administrators, clinical leaders, employee representatives, past award recipients, and medical staff.
“Dr. Kothari is a respected and highly regarded clinical leader,” said Joseph Salipante, M.D., vice president of Medical Affairs at Unity Hospital. “He has been forward thinking in helping the hospital develop a plan to improve clinical services to our patients, and has guided the Hospital in the development of our gastroenterology service that is second to none in our community.”
Dr. Kothari has been a member of the Medical Staff of Unity
Hospital since 1980. He has held numerous leadership
positions, including president of Unity Medical Staff. He
is currently chief of Gastroenterology & Endoscopy at Unity
Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Internal
Medicine and the American Board of Gastroenterology.
Unity Health System is a 681-bed health care network serving the city of Rochester and western Monroe County. Services include acute care, chemical dependency and mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care and family medicine, continuing care, housing, laboratory, occupational health, and child care services.
