First New Units Open at Unity Hospital

Patients at Unity Hospital will move to the first of four brand new units within the Hospital over a two-day period beginning on June 17. The move is part of Unity Hospital Modernization and Expansion Project.

Patients in the surgical, general medicine, joint replacement, and orthopaedic units will be moved from their current rooms in the Golisano Center to the first new units to open at Unity Hospital. All rooms will be set up and ready for patients.

Additional staff have been assigned to assist with the move, as they have been for past unit moves within the Expansion project. Each patient will be accompanied by a Guest Services escort as well as Hospital staff transporters, nurses, clinical staff. Questions can be directed to (585) 723-7001.

Unity Hospital Modernization and Expansion Project
The opening of buildings two and three marks completion of the next phase of the four-year, $144 million Unity Hospital Modernization and Expansion Project. Construction for the project began with Phase I in 2010—which included the opening of Wegman Family Cottages at Park Ridge Living Center and the McCormick Transitional Care Center. Construction is underway on the third and last phase of the project. The new Golisano Restorative Neurology and Rehabilitation Center, and a new Joint Replacement Center, are scheduled to open in 2014. When the project is complete, patients will see improvements in a range of services—from cardiology and pharmacy, to improved nursing stations and larger parking lots—and all Unity Hospital patient rooms will remain private.
