Lights of Love Honors Loved Ones through the Holidays

The Lights of Love are now shining brightly at the Unity Park Ridge and Unity St. Mary’s Campuses. Lights of Love is an annual campaign by the Park Ridge Auxiliary, started in 1988, that raises funds for Unity Health System.

Lights of Love allows people to honor or memorialize a loved one with the purchase of a light, for a donation of $8. The lights are strung on trees at the two campuses. The names of all those honored are listed in a special book, which is available for viewing throughout the year.

This year's Lights of Love celebration included a performance by the St. Theodore Church Choir. Guests then moved outside to the front entrance of Unity Hospital to watch as Tim McCormick, president and CEO, and Sharlene Penna, past president of the Park Ridge Auxiliary, flipped the switch to turn on the lights. The entire crowd then joined St. Theodore’s Choir in singing “Silent Night.”

The lights will remain lit throughout the holiday season. More than 8,500 lights have been purchased since the campaign started.

The Park Ridge Auxiliary has donated over $4 million to Unity Health System for patient care, thanks to Auxiliary members who give countless hours of volunteer time for services, events, and activities throughout the year.

Lights of Love can be purchased year round. To purchase one, or for more information, call 723-7102, or visit www.unityhealth.org, click on About Unity, then Park Ridge Auxiliary, to download a form.
