Comprehensive services in one convenient location

At Unity, we put our patients at the center of the treatment development process, integrating clinical care with patient education. This gives you easy access to all the tools and services you need—from the initial consultation to ongoing education and support.

We accept all insurances, and most plans do cover diabetes and nutrition counseling services (co-pays normally apply). Most insurers do not require pre-authorization, but do check your specific policy.

The new Unity Diabetes Center offers:

Endocrine Care
Complete medical management of diabetes, thyroid disease, and other glandular disorders.

Diabetes Education

Nutrition Counseling

Exercise Programs
A variety of programs to help you integrate regular physical activity into your routine.

Endocrine Care

Expert management of endocrine disorders
We offer diagnosis, consultation, and long-term management of diabetes and endocrine problems, such as adrenal and thyroid disease, growth disorders, osteoporosis, pituitary tumors, and problems with calcium metabolism.

Diabetes Education

Learn how to better manage your diabetes
Our individual and group diabetes education programs will help you create a self-management plan tailored to your lifestyle and needs. Our certified diabetes educators show you how to monitor your diabetes, select and prepare tasty foods, deal effectively with stress and illness, and make enjoyable physical activity part of your routine.

We're here to help turn a difficult diagnosis into a positive life-change. In fact, some patients say that diabetes was the best thing that’s every happened to them, because it made them take better care of themselves … and now they feel great!

Nutrition counseling

Get practical advice on meal planning, dining out, and more
Changing your diet and lifestyle is very difficult—so we evaluate your specific needs as well as your daily routine. Then our highly trained staff works with you to develop a meal plan and behavior change goals that work. You’ll get advice from registered dietitians on the best foods to eat, as well as meal planning, dining out, and grocery shopping. We’re here to help you set goals, resolve issues, and answer questions.

We also have nutritionists on staff who specialize in treating children under 13. Younger children are seen with their parents, and the visits teach positive approaches to eating by setting appropriate boundaries and limits. We place an emphasis on the family meal and encourage whole-family participation in meal planning.

Our caring professionals also offer counseling to individuals with a range of eating disorders, including compulsive eating, bulimia, and anorexia nervosa. We focus on the triggers for overeating, such as depression and stress. For information on Unity's Eating Disorders Programs, click here

Exercise Programs

Put your goals into action—get moving with our exercise programs
Regular exercise is essential to managing diabetes—so we offer exercise programs for men and women of all ages in a pleasant, climate-controlled, and supportive environment. Our highly trained staff will develop an exercise program based on your medical history, lifestyle, and abilities. This program will help you with lifestyle modifications aimed at improving your overall quality of life, finding strategies to optimize your health, and increasing your awareness of the importance of regular exercise. Our exercise programs range from low-impact aerobics to cardiovascular training to structured exercise sessions and even resistance training.

If you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, we offer a special Diabetes Exercise Program that consists of 90-minute classes twice a week for eight weeks and provides professional exercise guidance, blood glucose monitoring, and educational information. Our classes are designed to help you achieve optimal blood glucose control, reduce body fat, and minimize further diabetic complications.
