Join us for dynamic, interactive educational programs

The Unity Diabetes Center offers a variety of programs for patients. Please call 585-368-4560 for information on our upcoming classes and events. Some of these programs include: 

Managing Diabetes

You need to know all you can about diabetes, so that you can better control your blood sugar and take charge of your health. Unity’s Managing Diabetes classes help you understand all aspects of diabetes care, from your diet to monitoring blood sugar to preventing complications.

Managing Diabetes consists of four weekly sessions offered at a variety of times to meet your needs. (You must attend all four classes to complete the course—and make-ups are available.) You are welcome to bring your spouse or partner, but please keep attendees to immediate family members due to limited space.

Diabetes Exercise Program

For patients with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, this special program is offered at convenient times throughout the week. These classes provide professional exercise guidance, blood glucose monitoring, and educational information. Our classes are designed to help you achieve optimal blood glucose control, reduce body fat, improve your quality of life, and to minimize further diabetic complications.


Healthy Motivations! 

This 12-week program combines education, support, and physical activity. Our dynamic, interactive weekly classes include health reviews led by exercise physiologists, registered dietitians, and a licensed hypno-therapist. This program also offers twice-weekly supervised low-impact exercise activities in a climate-controlled facility. Participants receive a workbook, pedometer, food and exercise diary, and individualized meal planning services—all at no additional cost. Patients may receive partial coverage from Preferred Care and Excellus; but it is not covered by Medicaid plans. Long-term follow-up and support is available.

Group Support Program

For graduates of our Healthy Motivations! programs, we provide encouragement for ongoing weight loss and lifestyle change efforts.
