When meal planning, weight loss, and exercise are not enough to control diabetes, you may need medication to help regulate your blood sugar. Whether you’re using insulin or any of the other five classes of diabetes drugs, you may have questions about how these solutions work – and what the future of diabetes medication looks like. K.K. Rajamani, M.D., chief of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, Unity Hospital will discuss: why we use different medications and how they work in different ways, today’s insulin options, including pens, pumps, and incretins (hormones that help regulate blood sugar), and what’s next in diabetes medicine and technology – for example, the artificial pancreas .
