How to Thrive in Rochester this Fall
- Enjoy some time exploring the historic Erie Canal on the Erie Canalway Trail, which winds its way through Rochester and the surrounding suburbs on its way from Buffalo to Albany. Take a stroll to explore the villages of Fairport and Pittsford, or hop on your bike to challenge yourself to pedal 10, 20 or 50+ miles on this flat trail.
- New York State boasts some of the most beautiful hiking spots in the East for adventurous athletes at any level. Day trips to Letchworth State Park, Watkins Glen or Ithaca offer views of spectacular gorges and waterfalls alongside your workout
Maintain, Don't Gain Holiday Challenge
Take advantage of the Maintain, Don't Gain Holiday Challenge with the opportunity to win some cold hard cash! This easy-to-participate-in contest can help us all coast through the holiday season without gaining weight - there's even a little 'cushion' with the weigh-ins so that we can still enjoy some fun holiday festivities while still staying on track.
November 11 - January 6 - Eight week challenge
Free to participate in and open to all active employees.
In a nut shell, the contest is based on doing a minimum of three weigh-ins (first, last and at least one during the eight-weeks) and maintaining your weight at each weigh-in within a 2 pound +/- of your initial weight. Each time you weigh-in and are within the 2 pound range you are awarded 1 raffle ticket. At the end of the contest, all the raffle tickets go into a drawing for the grand prize of $500 or two second place prizes of $250 each.
Weighing in is easy and convenient (hopefully). The RAC helps administer the challenge so they will come on-site to a variety Unity campuses every Tuesday during the challenge (except 11/25) to do weigh-ins. Or you can stop at any RAC for Women on a Tuesday to weigh-in, even if you do not work out there and/or you are male. Particpants have to only do a minimum of three weigh-ins to be eligible for the cash prizes, so it's a fairly easy challenge to participate in.
If you want to participate, complete the registration form and return to the Thrive department via fax (368-4845), inter-office mail (POB Suite 301), scanned and e-mailed to email@example.com or dropped at any RAC for Women location.
