Unity Receives Eat Well, Live Well Award

The Rochester Business Alliance has awarded Unity Health System’s employee wellness program Thrive an award for having the most creative campaign for this year’s 2013 Eat Well Live Well Challenge.

Thrive was established in 2011 and was designed to help employees stay healthy, fit, and active. It encompasses the whole person, and offers a variety of health education, activities, incentives, and more.

Unity actively encourages and supports healthy behaviors and lifestyles among its employees by sharing its vast expertise and resources to educate and empower employees to make positive, lifelong healthy choices.

Stand-out ideas that Thrive offered employees participating in the Eat Well, Live Well Challenge included posters featuring Unity employees, cafe samples of healthy food at both Park Place Cafe at Unity Hospital and St. Mary's Café on the Unity St. Mary’s campus, a punch card program to encourage fruit and vegetable consumption and the ever-popular disincentive experiment, a friendly competition among employees to try to overcome goals.

“We’re thrilled to have been chosen for this award. We're committed to having the healthiest workforce in the Rochester area and our employee wellness team has really made a strong effort over the last few years to offer unique and creative programs,” said Warren Hern, Unity President and CEO. “Our employees really felt motivated to participate because of the fun our wellness team brought into this year's Eat Well Live Well Challenge."
