Unity Health System Palliative Care Program Receives Advanced Certification from Joint Commission

Unity Health System’s Palliative Care Program has received the Health Care Staffing Services Certification and  Advanced Certification from The Joint Commission, Division of Accreditation and Certification Operations.

“This is an honor as less than 30 programs have been credentialed for palliative care in the US at this time,” said Michelle Carpenter-Bradley, M.D., Chief of Palliative Care. “It gives validity to what we do and acknowledges the work our team does on a daily basis. It is also a testament to the support Unity has for our palliative service.”

The Joint Commission took into consideration comparative data to evaluate processes and outcomes, as well as evaluating Unity's perception of quality of service. After an extensive review of the Program, the certification was granted citing that Unity provides safe, high-quality care, treatment and services.
