Unity Hospital Achieves High Score from the Health Information and Management Systems Society

Unity Hospital has attained a Stage 6 level designation on the HIMSS (Health Information and Management Systems Society) Analytics EMR Adoption Model.
HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database. There are eight stages (0–7) that measure a hospital's implementation and use of information technology applications.
Unity received a score of 6.047 placing the Hospital in the top 10% of the more than 5,200 hospitals scored by HIMSS. The attached report shows Unity Hospital benchmarked against all hospitals, those of similar bed size and all hospitals in New York State.
In addition to the Hospital achieving a high score, HIMSS Analytics more recently developed a similar EMR Adoption Model for Ambulatory settings. Six of Unity’s practice sites have also achieved a Stage 6 score, placing them in the very top of the over 14,000 practices scored by HIMSS. These practices include Unity Family Medicine practices at Chili Center, Country Village, St. Mary’s, St. Bernard’s, Spencerport, as well as the Unity Diabetes Center.
“These are significant milestones for Unity Health System and an achievement we are all extremely proud of,” said John Glynn, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer. “Unity is leading the way in electronic medical records adoption thanks to our skilled physicians and the hard work and commitment of a very talented information technology and informatics organization.”
