Unity Health System Provides Free Tax Preparation for its Employees and Volunteers
Rochester, N.Y. (February 11, 2011) - Unity Health System is participating in the Rochester C.A.S.H. (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) program for the seventh year, providing free tax preparation service to employees and volunteers whose 2010 household income is $50,000 or less. Unity is one of 12 community sites for the program, which is a coalition led by the Empire Justice Center and the United Way of Greater Rochester.
The number of participants in the program at Unity has grown from 95 in the first year to 282 in 2010, with individuals receiving more than $498,000 in federal refunds last year. The program, available until April 8, also provides individuals with free coaching and education on financial investing and saving.
“This is a great program that helps improve the financial well-being of our staff and volunteers,” said Cheryl Bennett, manager of Budgets, Unity Health System.
