Memorial Service will Remember Rochester’s Homeless
WHAT: Unity Health System’s St. Mary’s Campus will host a memorial service to remember Rochester’s Homeless who have lost their lives during this year. The service will include the reading of the names of Rochester’s departed homeless people. The service is organized by the Friends of St. Bridget’s and Unity’s Health Care for the Homeless Program.
WHY: Each year, on or around the first day or winter and the longest day of the year, the National Coalition for the Homeless sponsors National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day. The day, which started in 1990, is meant to bring attention to homelessness, and remember those who have died from exposure to the elements, unsafe conditions, or violence.
