Free Car Seat Checks at Park Ridge Child Care Center
WHAT: Park Ridge Child Care Center and Greece Safe Kids are offering free child car seat inspections. Law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders affiliated with Greece Safe Kids will conduct car and booster seat checks, and offer safety advice. The event is free and open to the public.
WHY: Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in children ages 2 to 14. When properly installed, child car seats and booster seats prevent serious injury and death. However, an estimated 80 percent of infant car seats, and around 40 percent of booster seats, are installed incorrectly, according to the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA).
WHEN: September 16, 2009, 3 to 6 p.m.
WHERE: Park Ridge Child Care Center (Next to Unity Hospital, on the Unity Park Ridge Campus), 1555 Long Pond Road
