Unity Health System Celebrates Registered Dietitian Day

Unity Health System is pleased that Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy has recognized today, March 11, 2009, as Registered Dietitian Day. In his proclamation, Mayor Duffy thanked the members of the Genesee Dietetic Association for their contributions to the Rochester community.

“Unity’s registered dietitians are proud to be part of the Genesee Dietetic Association, and to be recognized by Mayor Duffy,” said Janel Welch, registered dietician at Unity Health System, and Secretary of the Genesee Dietetic Association. “Our registered dietitians work to keep our patients and our staff healthy by providing the latest information on food and nutrition in an easy to understand, and easy to use, manner. “

Registered dietitians have degrees in nutrition, dietetics, public health or a related field. They are able to develop personalized nutrition plans for individuals of all ages. March is National Nutrition Month. Unity’s registered dietitians are working to increase awareness of the benefits of a healthy diet, through a series of awareness events and activities for staff, patients and visitors.
