Hi Anonymous, I appreciate your question about nutrition! Nutrition is certainly an important factor in managing blood sugars, maintaining a healthy weight, heart health and overall preventing chronic disease. A couple of quick tips are to eliminate all sugary drinks and use the healthy plate approach to meal planning: 1/4 plate lean protein (ie: chicken, fish), 1/4 plate whole grains (ie brown rice, wheat bread or pasta) and 1/2 plate nonstarchy vegetables. You may want to schedule an appointment with a diabetes educator/registered dietitian to help create a meal plan that meets your individual needs. Call 368-4560 to schedule an appt.
