You're welcome Dave; and sounds like a good plan.

Thanks Joy. I'll continue with the Nano until I use up the strips, then switch to the Freedom Lite.

Hi Dave,
Great question. You may find that different meters give slightly different BG readings (the FDA allows for 20%+/- variance). I would recommend that you use the same BG meter to take all your readings so you get consistent feedback. Both the Accu Check and Freestyle BG meters have FDA approval and should give accurate readings as per above. I do not think you need to be concerned.

Since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last June I've been using an Accu-Chek Nano to check my blood sugar level. I was recently advised by my insurance company (MVP) that they would no longer cover the test strips and lancets, so I switched to the Freestyle Freedom Lite meter.

The new meter arrived yesterday and I checked it with the control fluid, then checked my blood. The reading was 61. I also checked with the Nano and the reading was 85.

Is it normal that different meters give different readings? Should I be concerned?

Thanks, Dave
